Start Building Links the Right Way

When creating a webpage, adding several links to websites that complement or add to your personal content helps to share interests and can also promote the work of others. Many popular websites also feature links to help you learn more. For example, look up any actor in Wikipedia, and find links to Imdb's website.

Adding links to a site usually takes only a few seconds. Either type an entire address into text or highlight a button and simply turn it into a link. If your site features many links, you can even create an entire page dedicated to them. Check out The Drudge Report, one of the most popular news pages today. The entire lower section of the homepage lists dozens of different links.

Before linking to a site, make sure you get permission from the owner, if required. Because a website is intellectual property, the owner has the right to remove your link if it is unapproved. Decide which links work best for your site to add content and originality to it.
